What is Domestic Violence?Domestic violence is a pattern of physical, verbal, sexual, and/or emotional battering of one person by another. Domestic violence respects no age, no race, no religion or social class. 24-Hour Crisis LineCall the crisis line at 989.835.6771, or toll-free at 877.216.6383, any time of day or night if you are experiencing violence in your home. Client AdvocatesOn call 24 hours, our client advocates have the training and understanding to help deal with the issues surrounding domestic violence. These nonjudgmental, trained professionals also offer information and referrals to other community agencies. Support GroupsSmall, confidential groups of domestic violence survivors meet weekly in Midland and Gladwin to share experiences arising from violence in the home. In an atmosphere of warmth and caring, they are able to work on issues that are the result of domestic conflict. Free child care is provided during the Midland group. ShelterOur shelter is open 24 hours a day. We provide a safe, supportive environment for survivors and their children. Clients' personal needs are met, food provided, and arrangements can be made for clothing. Being in the shelter can offer the chance to explore available options and provides time to plan for future safety. We will keep your stay at the shelter confidential. |
