Welcome to Girls on the Run of Midland County - a life-changing, non-profit prevention program for girls in the 3rd through 8th grade. Our mission is "to educate and prepare girls for a lifetime of self-respect and healthy living."

Girls on the Run combines training for a 5K (3.1 miles) running event with healthy living education. Our programs instill self-esteem and strong values through health education, life skills development, mentoring relationships and physical training - all of which are accomplished through an active collaboration with girls and their parents, schools, volunteers, staff and the community.

  • Have a strong sense of identity

  • Learn to live and receive support from friends

  • Have a healthy body image

  • Stand up for themselves in a healthy manner

  • Understand their importance to our community and the world

  • Complete a 5K run/walk event

Through interactive activities such as running, playing games and discussing important issues, participants learn how to celebrate being girls. Each session is led by trained female coaches that guide and mentor girls through a fun and uplifting curriculum.

Contact Council Director Kimberlee Bruce if you:
